Para Platón, en el Fedro, no cabe duda de que la visita del dios Theuth al rey Thamis fue el inicio del arte de poner por escrito lo que durante milenios sobrevivió en la memoria. En la historia de Occidente, después de siglos de práctica de la escritura, fue hasta el siglo XV cuando la aparición de la imprenta en el mapa de la transmisión textual obligó a algunos de los copistas de libros a buscar de otro modo el sustento y los convirtió en maestros de caligrafía, dando pie a los manuales que poblarán el imaginario caligráfico de las últimas cinco centurias.
Desde la Operina de Ludovico degli Arrighi y la Vera arte dello excellente scrivere del Tagliente a principios del siglo XVI hasta la adopción en México del “Método Palmer” a principios del siglo XX y los problemas actuales del aprendizaje de los trazos ante las nuevas tecnologías, la caligrafía ha sido una de las principales preocupaciones en la formación de las nuevas generaciones. Prueba de ello es la riquísima colección de documentos que conserva la Biblioteca Histórica “José María Lafragua” pertenecientes a la Academia de Educación y Bellas Artes de Puebla, institución creada en 1813 y que durante 160 años forjó el destino artístico de la Ciudad de los Ángeles. Pero la Biblioteca Lafragua no sólo conserva manuales destinados al aprendizaje del ductus, el número y orden de los trazos que conforman las producciones manuscritas, sino también numerosos tratados que dan a conocer las instrucciones formales y de contenido para los responsables de la puesta por escrito de documentos judiciales, como la Librería de escribanos de José Febrero, publicado por primera vez en 1769.
Los ejemplares que conforman esta pequeña muestra son algunos de los más notables ejemplos del proceso histórico del arte de escribir en Puebla.

Para Platón, en el Fedro, no cabe duda de que la visita del dios Theuth al rey Thamis fue el inicio del arte de poner por escrito lo que durante milenios sobrevivió en la memoria. En la historia de Occidente, después de siglos de práctica de la escritura, fue hasta el siglo XV cuando la aparición de la imprenta en el mapa de la transmisión textual obligó a algunos de los copistas de libros a buscar de otro modo el sustento y los convirtió en maestros de caligrafía, dando pie a los manuales que poblarán el imaginario caligráfico de las últimas cinco centurias.
Desde la Operina de Ludovico degli Arrighi y la Vera arte dello excellente scrivere del Tagliente a principios del siglo XVI hasta la adopción en México del “Método Palmer” a principios del siglo XX y los problemas actuales del aprendizaje de los trazos ante las nuevas tecnologías, la caligrafía ha sido una de las principales preocupaciones en la formación de las nuevas generaciones. Prueba de ello es la riquísima colección de documentos que conserva la Biblioteca Histórica “José María Lafragua” pertenecientes a la Academia de Educación y Bellas Artes de Puebla, institución creada en 1813 y que durante 160 años forjó el destino artístico de la Ciudad de los Ángeles. Pero la Biblioteca Lafragua no sólo conserva manuales destinados al aprendizaje del ductus, el número y orden de los trazos que conforman las producciones manuscritas, sino también numerosos tratados que dan a conocer las instrucciones formales y de contenido para los responsables de la puesta por escrito de documentos judiciales, como la Librería de escribanos de José Febrero, publicado por primera vez en 1769.
Los ejemplares que conforman esta pequeña muestra son algunos de los más notables ejemplos del proceso histórico del arte de escribir en Puebla.
